134340 is the current (minor) name (designation) and asteroid number assigned to the dwarf planet formerly known as the 9th planet in our solar system, Pluto.

The planet was assigned this name on Sept. 7 2006 by the Minor Planet Center (MPC), the official organization responsible for collecting data about asteroids and comets in our solar system (so also minor name designations).

The status of Pluto was downgraded to a dwarf planet due to the fact that it didn’t fit the three criteria for an obect to classify as a real planet. These criteria are:
1. The object is in orbit around the Sun
2. The object has a nearly round shape
3. The object “cleared the neighborhood” around its orbit

Pluto didn’t meet the third one. Pluto didn’t dominate its orbit, since its orbit contains many other obejects that are 1) almost the size of Pluto itself (like asteroids) or 2) other dwarf planets.

However, 134340 is now better known as the title of a music track by BTS, a South Korean boyband. It featured on their third Korean studio album (sixth overall) Love Yourself 轉 'Tear'. The song uses the dwarf planet Pluto as theme: it tells a story about a relationship by using the reimagining of Pluto, its new identity and the situation around it as a symbol for the story.

It is also a random set of numbers and says ACDCD0 when put into a A1Z26 Cipher(cryptography, not the freestyle rapping or the 4 Cypher BTS rap songs).

"Pluto is actually called 134340 now, did you know?"
"No I didn't."

"I'm listening to 134340 right now."
"Oh, I thought it was called Pluto."
