Define A Moment Meaning

A Moment
A silent moment between two people (either gender, hetrosexual, homosexual, or bi-sexual) in which prolonged eye contact is made and initial feelings of attraction are felt. Often referred to simply as a "moment."

In the Mexican (2001, Dreamworks), Samantha (Julia Roberts) is in a diner with Winston(James Gandolfini), whom Samantha believes to be Leroy, and as they have a discussion, Winston gazes up and looks across the diner and makes prolonged eye-contact with another man, pauses, and then resumes his conversation with Samantha:

Samantha- What was that?

Winston-What?

Samantha-That. That moment you had.

Winston-What moment?

Samantha-Leroy, you just checked out that guy and had a moment.

Samantha-That was a moment.

Winston-I don't know if it was a moment.

Samantha-(Are you gay?)

Winston-- As in happy?
Samantha- As in homosexual.

In This Moment
A metal band (this title is debatable) founded by Chris Howorth and Maria Brink in 2005. They released a few albums in the early 2000s (Beautiful Tragedy, The Dream, A Star Crossed Wasteland). After a Star Crossed Wasteland, almost all the band members dropped out and the band was close to disbanding. In This Moment began writing a new album in 2011 and had a new lineup, releasing their 4th album, Blood in 2012, their highest charting album. They are releasing their 5th album, Black Widow, in November 2014.

That Moment
While this phrase was previously used to preface a statement with which the speaker or writer attempts to relate to the audience's or readership's similar experiences, the phrase is now primarily used on social media arbitrarily to describe any experience the social media user wants no matter how idiosyncratic.

Example of Previous Use:

Speaker: That moment when you realize you've fallen in love.

Listener: Oh yeah, that moment...

Example of Current Use:

Writer: That moment when you've been abducted by aliens and you realize you really should have voted for John McCain.

Reader: Oh yeah, THAT moment...

Moment
A unit of time. Useful in many different circumstances.

Man getting ready for a date: 3 seconds

Woman getting ready for a date: 45 minutes

Time for which it takes your friend to leave the house: 3 minutes

A historical event (a moment in time): depends if it is the sinking of the titanic (hours), impact of fat man (.01 milliseconds)

Interval of time it takes to complete computer repairs in a movie: 2.45 seconds (always followed by the word “there”)

A threat: 16 seconds give or take a few.

Well hell, a unit of time it takes to do anything. All you have to say is “in a moment” and they (friends/family/gun toting villains) have to wait until your done. Except if you get shot cus that would suck, but at least it’ll only take a moment.

You have one moment

I'll be down in a moment

In a moment

Just give me a moment

It was just a moment and it was done

Screw you guys, it was only a moment

The Moment
A mystical force referred to multiple times by Yes singer Jon Anderson in his lyrics.

It is similar to the movement.

"Passed around the moment clothed in mornings faster than we see.."

"We must have waited all our lives for this moment..."

"A man conceived a moments answers to the dream..."

"As a moment regained and regarded both the same..."

The Moment
Term used to describe someone who lives in the "moment". Perhaps a long lost relative of "the Situation". And most certainly a regular to the Jersey Shore.

The Moment: "Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither was this guy!"

On-looker: "Wow...that is another classic by The Moment!"

'No' Moment
A moment that has happened sometime in the past (usually the night before) and is tremendously embarrassing to even think about never mind speak about. When a 'No' moment has been recalled usually the victim will come out with a frustrated

"NOOOOOO!" groan or even a delicate "no..." mumble. 'No' moments are usually caused by alcohol and cringe-worthy social situations.

"Aww man you were totally wasted last night and you tried to pull Jessy! But she refused your sexual advances! Gutted for you!"

"Awww... NOOOOOOOOO!! ARGH"

"Was that a 'no' moment?"

"Aye, it was"

"Cool"
