Also called a BAR, the weapon served as a
sqaud automatic rifle for US forces as well as its allies through World War
Wwo and the Korean War. First issued in 1918, it was designed for assaults on entrenched positions to help break the
stalemate of World War One. It took .30 caliber rounds and was a gas-operated, magazine fed, aircooled support weapon.
