Under capitalism the state is separated from economics (production and trade), just like the state is separated from religion. Capitalism is the system of of laissez faire. It is the system of political freedom.

A system that rewards those who work hard and use their talents to the fullest extent, now has been confused and distorted into a systematic operation of oppression and greed, called "corporatism". Can actually be mixed with socialism to create a utopian society if managed properly, a system we almost achieved under Clinton but was trashed by Dubya.

Capitalism is actually a system built for a democratic society by the definition of Enlightened Philosophers, but Corporatism has distorted the meaning of capitalism horribly.

Capitalism is a system of economics where you invest 'capital' into ventures and get money (more than your investment) if it succeeds. It is a system that rewards people with ideas. People who spew the whole: rich get richer, poor get poorer are slightly off. If you have an idea, you can get rich. In other systems, like communism or socialism, you have no way to improve your lot in life, but with capitalism, you at least have a chance
