This is the thinking part of the brain that receives
nerve impulses from all the sense organs. Each association
neuron is connected to thousands of other nerve cells. They interpret signals from sense organs
enabling you to see, hear, smell, taste, and feel.
When you touch something hot your sense
organs send
nerve impulses up the
spinal cord and to the cerebral cortex which then sends it back down to your motor nerve that makes your muscle move away from the source of heat.
