Define Deviantart Meaning

A web based art community with many users. Users can submit their art to this community where it can be viewed by others. There are many great artists in this community. However there are many crappy artists as well who only submit pictures of half naked women in order to get a massive amount of page views and comments on their pictures by young testosterone loaded teenage boys.

An empire of mostly average art, though there are quite a few that are good. Sadly, this empire is overruled by fanart rather than creative, original art. Anything else other than fanart hardly ever gets noticed.

Your drawing/photo/movie/poem may get viewed by some, but usually no more than 30 times. If you get a comment on it by someone, that's usually the last comment you'll ever get on it, unless you have some friends (AKA DeviantWatchers) that like your artwork. If you're lucky, it might even get a favorite.

On the other hand, if you submit a drawing of a character from, say, Full Metal Alchemist, or Inu Yasha, You may get as much as 100 views or more within the same hour that you submitted it. These usually get more comments and favorites, especially if you draw the male characters looking all bishie-like (The deviantart community is mostly girls, so it's natural that they'd like this kind of stuff).

Then there are the Deviants that are extremely popular and worshipped by thousands. I have no idea how they got this popular, but the case with these people is that, no matter WHAT they submit, no matter how stupid it looks, or how simple it is, it appears on the front page in the "Today's Favorites" section. Their artwork gets about 500 favorites per picture, as well as about 8 pages of comments by people saying how cute it is, how much they love Edward Elric, or how much they love the artist, despite the simplicity of the work. There ARE some photos/drawings/movies though which I agree deserve to be there, but most of them are just random new pictures submitted by "a popular artist"

There are some less-popular artists out there who submit more interesting things than what appears on the front page, but sadly, since their name is not "Rimfrost", or "bleed-man", nobody notices their work.

So, to sum it up, deviantart is a nice place. I just wish that others' original artwork would get noticed as well. I go there too, and submit drawings of my own characters, but the only ones who see it are my friends. It would be good if all art was appreciated, and I'm not simply talking about the original art of ONLY the popular artists, but EVERYONE's art.

Website in which people like Bleedman, Snapesnogger, kris-wilson or Purplekecleon's became famous, regardless if their art it's nice or shitty.

Is an art community, in which people registers for uploading pictures. Like fotolog or photobucket, but for art.

Generally good artists that draw original art in there are very unknown and rarely become popular. In the other hand, if you draw Sonic art, Pokémon chibies, or fanart of male guys with a femenine look on their faces there's a huge possibility that you'll be famous.

In general is a good website when you are looking for fanart, or a place for uploading fanart. Tracing is allowed by the admins, but rejected by a good part of the community. And not always the best deviations get to the "daily deviation" prize.

Sometimes is used too for hosting pictured of naked bodies showing their genitals. If is a male guy and the account is found, he will be banned. If is a female, photos will just be marked as "mature".

A bunch of idiotic brats who dump shit all over the place and call your pieces "Ugly" if it's not naked MIKU or some homo humping some pony oc

A website that has a very high amount of stupid ass fan girls that submit only piece of shit fanart of anime characters such as Inuyasha or Naruto. some how they receive many watchers (followers on Deviantart), favorites and comments.

A site dedicated to art. Most of the people who use it just want to feel special because they drew a picture, but there are a select few users who are actually good at "art".

Because of the deviation overflow, new deviations submitted appear on the front page for only a few seconds; it only catches a deviant's eye if it's particularly cute or particularly good
It is really, really hard to get publicity

I have an account on deviantart, and it's practically my life. The good things outweigh the bad, especially if you take criticisms and appreciate and look at art all the time.. If you don't, your art will probably never get any better.
Deviantart really gives me a sense of self-satisfaction. x3

An online "art" community, although there may be a handful of people on it with real talent, it is mostly a showcase for people's sad anime drawings, bad B&W photos, and other nonart. Populated mostly by people who think that taking a drawing class in highschool makes them an artist, and that their trite images are anything more than glorified napoleon dynamite doodles.

This is an art based website/forum/blog. It does have many talented people who deserve to be there, for art's sake, to share their art with the world and to recieve and give feedback. But then...

..There are the other..select few who submit meaningless pictures of themselves...and or ones with nothing but blood and razors and shots of people slitting their wrists.

There is also a Wapanese cult that is being mass produced here. The ones who are into anime, and think that they were born and bred in Japan..and were sent here to America to teach the young ones how you should really be. You should listen to Japanese Rock and sing along, to songs you can't translate or understand. To songs that could be really saying, I like bunnies and rainbows and pretty sunsets.

Also here, you may find the JRockers, somewhat mentioned above. These other..select few enjoy listening to hardcore screaming Japanese men, who look like teenage girls, and like to paint there faces white and draw designs and Japanese symbols with liquid eyeliner. But then after sampling the sounds of this music you could ask one of these persons, "Do you like Slip Knot, or Marilyn Manson, they sound just the same.." and this Jrocker would respond, "Are you insane, omg I hate them they totally are teh suck"

This cult usually submits "art" that is nothing more than drawings, or fanart of the totally fav anime characters. They may also submit pictures of themselves all dressed up as their favorite Jrocker and/or anime character, also known as Cosplaying. If not this, then pictures from the web of various members of Japanese rock bands that are "photoshopped" up.
