Define Emo Kid Meaning

A social classification that has been bastardized by scenesters, rich preps, and wannabe goths united. A true emo kid does not label him/herself as being "emo"...often this label is foisted on him or her against the alleged emo kid's will. True emo kids listen to whatever the hell music they feel like, and it is often poetic or expressive. Emo is not a clothing style, cutting your wrists, or being a frequent buyer at Hot Topic. Those who call themselves "emo" are most likely just trying to be "scene" and have really screwed up the genre through wearing generic, borderline gothic clothing that all their sad little friends wear.

Emo kids.

There are many kinds of emo kids. there are Emo Kids who recognize themselves as emo kids. Although some are posers, some aren't. They just happen to realize that it would be easier for the other kids to label them like that. They feel for other people. They don't have to cut or do something totally rebellious to be an emo kid. They don't have to wear black or shop at hot topic.

All they have to do is be true to themselves. If the emo kid likes playing American Football, that doesn't mean he's a jock posing as an emo kid or the other way around.

Emo kids are people who are true to themselves. They call themselves what they want. They do what they want. They are polite, but honest. They are only very rude when the person they are talking to doesn't deserve respect. Emo kids tend to show what they feel to other people, whether that is love, hate, depression or sadness. that's why they're called EMO-tive KIDS.

NOT all emo kids have slashes on their wrists. NOT all emo kids have an ex they cry about and write poems about. NOT all emo kids have an lj, where they post sad stuff about. NOT all emo kids shop in hot topic. NOT all emo kids are gay. NOT all emo kids have floppy hair styles. NOT all emo kids are over dramatic about the smallest things in life. NOT all emo kids listen to just 'emo bands' or songs with meanings, although most love to.

What I'm trying to say is.. That an emo kid, is someone who is 'EMO' because that's who he is. Not because it is 'scene' or the hottest trend now. It is simply because that's who he is

oh my.. an emo kid.. first off.. most kids get mistaken with emo kids and posers.. (scene kids).. the posers are the ones who show off their scars and cuts to people. they only cut for "fun" and to be "cool". they listen to emo music and dress emo cause they think its "cool" and will make them "popular". those are not emo kids.. why doesnt anyone understand that?

most emo kids will be wearing mostly all black and have written some depressing dark poems and depressing lyrics about heartbreak. some wear the studded belts. some go to hot topic. they hate labels. they usually dont listen to known bands such as fall out boy. their hair is usually a dark color or dyed. they might have black nail polish on and the straight up emo guys will have black eye liner on. most emo kids now do not wear the black thick rimmed glasses. the definition for emo has changed over the years. some emo kids hate being called emo.. and rarely will u find an emo kid who is proud to be "emo".. the kids who say their emo and label themselves are the posers.

Emo kids are just lost in music. They spend A lot of their time listening to different bands...anyway "emo kid" is just ANOTHER stero typ,e everyone is different..why label??

i see all these people bag on emo kids and in truth if they ever get stuck in a hole then they can tell how it feels to be "emo" YES I AM EMO. the whole clothing thing is another way to show other emo people that they arent alone because inside every emo kid as much as life does suck and as much as some do cut (i dont myself) everyone wants to know they arent alone. alot of things can make someone emo and most have been pointed out but unlike most of the jerks who try to bring me down i know how to be a man and let other people live their lives accepting that we are all different. just because i want to wear make up and tight girls jeans why do i deserve all the hate that gets put on emo kids? i know this isnt much of a definition but to anyone who reads this try to understand that we cant help who we are inside.

person who listens to good music (emo)which is about emotions, coping, problems with society, being alone, and all the emotions people are actually feeling. the difference between emo kids and the other preps, jocks, and all them is that the emo kids aren't afraid of being rejected by the cliques and will admit that they arent ecstatic and they dont do so well all the time. emo kids are quite usually judged because of their amazing clothing style, and also because they are in tune with their senses and their world. they look past to see an actual meaning to everything. the music is not shallow, meaningless shit but it represents what is real.

Music/Lifestyle that involves using emotions to express themselves. Poetry/Lyrics can be a popular way of expressing an "emo kid's" feelings. An "emo kid" is not always sad and depressed, contrary to beliefs. Music is usually a huge influence in an "emo kid's" life.

one who prefers underground music, kicks it in the back, keeps to themselves, doesn't care about the popular stuff and doesn't care what others think.

A person that supposedly wears huge glasses and baggy pants, but in reality don't. They are in touch with their emotions, and when they are with friends, are usually very happy and laughing. They are not stupid pussies that cut their wrists and write angsty poems. They are sick of seeing rich white suburban kids that have a nice home in New Haven acting like they come from the ghettos of LA. All emo haters are either wiggers (like describes in the last sentence) or trend-obsessed MTV losers. Oh, and here is something for all the immature kids that posted that anti-emo people definitions:

Shut up. The music you listen is mostly about pimps, bitches, and riding on 24's, while the music emo kids listen to actually mean something.

Clothes--Scarfs, mocassins, girl pants, band t's, sweet hair...and anything else they feel like wearing
Personality--Depressed...but not around their friends, usually sad, writes poems that make a lot of sense, listen to good music..can you tell im an emo kid
