Define Hicks Meaning

A derrogatory term used to describe the following:

1. Southerners
2. People who live in trailer parks
3. Uncivilized or unsophisticated people
4. Ignorant people

The term "hicks" is an insult and is inappropriate for civil conversation, as many people take offense to the term.

Person who was raised in a country or urban area. any country area in the world.

Hick is a word to describe a very specific group of low class, southern whites. Hicks are racist, homophobic, stupid as fuck, and are ALWAYS ignorant ass Christians that will shove their beliefs down your throat whenever they get the chance.

hicks are most commonly racist against blacks and latinos, but more often then not they just hate anyone that's not white. they also hates gays because "yawll no dat Gawd mayddit Adum nd Eeve nawt Adum nd Steeve yawll". They are almost completely uneducated, and usually dropped out in the 8th or 9th grade.

They are all extremely religious. Now normally, there would not be anything wrong with that, but these people really overdue it. A hick would actually disown their child for not being religious or the same religion they were raised with. A hick takes the Bible LITERALLY and will actually turn the other cheek in the name of science because it "goes against God". Basically, these people make Christians look like huge pompous ass holes.

Not all people that live in the South are like this. Want to know how to stay away from them? DON'T GO TO THE SOUTH! (Unless you're visiting a major city, of course)

I for one am not a hick, but a resident of rural New England I live near many. They tend to live in shity houses as they are poor. Own many guns. drve shity trucks. Shop at Walmart. Wear carharts and tee shirts. They wear in carhart or artic cat jackets in the winter. They also drink lots of cheep bear, such as Bud Light. Many are fat, though some are thin and few are in the middle. I often wonder about why this is. they are diffrent from rednecks as they are from the northern extremes. Rather than liking the heat they seem to enjoy it when its really cold out. Like 30 below. I can rarely understand what they say as they have thick accents, slurring their words together. They use far more tobacco products than the average person. often smoking and chewing together.

I person from a rural area, usually in the northern states. Unlike rednecks, hicks usually are far out from heavily populated areas. Many dislike the cities and rarely venture there. Many hicks who live in Northern New England are also experienced woodsmen and enjoy the woods.

-May or may not be intelligent or somewhat educated
-Doesn't go to KKK meetings
-May or may not be imbreeded
-Wears overalls and straw hats
-Doesn't always wear shoes
-Are lucky to have a computer
-Might be seen chewing on a hay straw
-Doesn't drink beer; drinks moonshine
-Doesn't live in trailer parks like rednecks; quite a few live in suburban houses, but most live in the southern foothills, Appalachia, and vast farmlands throughout the Midwest.
-Is less racist and bigoted towards differences, but is still serious about defending whatever their particular way of life may be
-Are usually more hospitable, especially in the mountains of the South, or the massed farms of the Midwest.
-Aren't always as violent as rednecks.
