Nerds
plural of 'Nerd'. You and I envy his intellecual skills and laugh at his stupidness in everyday life (like pants lifted up high and using 10 year-old brands) but he or she has about 5 times the chance to be more successful in life, and you'd consider yourself lucky that you aren't being hunted down by his hitmen now.

the movie 'Valentines' shows a nerd taking back revenge on the guys and girls who bullied him, using his wealth from his cpmany to support his actions

Nerds
Not necessarily smart, just giving off the impression that they are. Often very sheltered from the outside world, spending whatever time on the internet updating their blogs that no one will ever read. Might also be really, really white due to their lack of sun, pasty almost. Not the most athletic people in the world, often have weird farmer's tans. For the most part wears glasses 24/7 and gets mad or irritated when they are removed or are in immediate danger. Often lacking basic important social skills, leading to easy embarrassment.

Yet with all this negative stereotyping toward this particular group. They will almost always make more money then you will ever make and will almost always have a way hotter wife then you will ever get.

"Look the nerds, there they are! Steal their glasses and take them out in the sun. Give them my homework too!"

Nerds
Contrary to popular belief nerds are not necesarilly the honor roll, teacher pet students people think they are. No the Nerd subculture is made up of gamers, otaku, and fanboys.
These guys and girls don't go home and do homework and study. No, they spend all after school and all of their free time playing online multiplayer games, playing YugiOh, and watching anime and reading comic books. Kids who actually study and do homework are just smart. Most of them tend to be either overweight or underweight, they gorge on junk food, and whenever they're on Xbox Live or 4Chan they front and pretend to be badasses when in real life they'd get their asses handed to them from lack of exercise.
Don't be fooled you can be a gamer or manga lover without being a nerd it's just that nerds are obsessed with video games and anime/manga. Also for the real nerds when girls say they love nerdy guys, they're usually talking about hipsters who wear the whole nerd outfit of thick frame glasses and plaid shirts, not your pathetic asses.

Nerds spend almost all of their free time playing video games, playing trading card games, reading manga, or watching anime and cartoons and rarely ever socialize with anyone outside of the Internet.

Nerd
An individual who:
1. Enjoys learning
2. Does not adhere to social norms

A nerd is *not*:
1. A geek. The circles overlap, but they are not the same.

2. Someone who wears fake "nerdy" glasses
3. Someone who wears suspenders, fake glasses, and bowties on "nerd" day.
4. Someone who thinks of themself as a nerd, yet cannot hold an intelligent debate.
5. If you are reading this article to determine whether you are a nerd or not, you are not. Nerds do not need to look up the definition of "nerd", it is a label with no consequence whatsoever, and nerds have better things to do than play along with societal stereotypes. That being said, if you merely want to see what people think of when they think of the word "nerd", because human thought processes, societal constructs, and philosophy are so interesting, consider yourself a nerd.

Synonyms include booksmart

Nerd is only a label. It doesn't matter whether you are one or are not one. Nobody cares either way, and you should not, either.

Nerd
Someone who enjoys learning and obtaining new information in general for it's own sake, often without discrimination to different areas of knowledge. The key to recognizing a nerd is if they are completely indifferent to the application of what they learn; they are not inherently inclined to use or not to use the information.

Someone who is a nerd could also be a geek, who is passionate about highly specific interests, or a dork, who is a social outcast, but they do not have to be.

Person 1: Do you intend to do anything with your advanced degree in Russian Literature?
Person 2: I could, but honestly it's just interesting to study it. I could go my entire life without using the information I gain and still feel fulfilled.
Person 1: Wow, what a nerd.
