A hilarious comedy that originated on the BBC. Unique in that it focusses solely on the dreary, average lives of office workers. The humour is dry and the jokes are cutting and politically incorrect.
The BBC version aired 12 episodes and are viewed as classic British comedy, starring Ricky Gervais and Martin Freeman. An American network, NBC, duplicated the show, and is currently running over 2 seasons. The American version (with Steve Carrell) had a slow start but picked up speed and came into it's own in season 2.
People always say the British version is better because they're snobby and it seems the right thing to say.

Incrediably funny, inventive BBC Comedy by Stephen Merchant and Ricky Gervais about the goings-on at the office of a paper company called Wernham Hogg. Gervais plays the inept office manager, David Brent who confuses popularity with good management. Winner of two Golden Globes here in the U.S. and many others abroad.
There is a U.S. version in the works (visible nervousness, cross your fingers on this one), The Daily Show's Steve Carrell (yah!) is set to star in the central role so there is some promise. But watch the UK version first, cause it will always be the original and the best
A BBC2 office comedy that was a huge hit in the UK. The US version is also very funny, with Steve Carrellstarring as the boss. A quiet kind of humour that will have you doubling over.
Steve Carrell: "This is Pam, our secretary. If you think she's cute now, you should have seen her two years ago! Ho boy!"
If someone works a 40 hour a week job for 40 years, they will have spent approximately 9 years of their life at work. And since so many die soon after retirement, offices are waiting rooms for people waiting to die.
