Ummm
When people shutter or do not know what to say to another person, they say "um.."
While they say it, they think of what to say. People also say "uh.."when the don't know what to say.
People say this because they don't have an answer, don't want to say anything, don't know what to say, lie a whole lot and a bunch more times!
