B) to otherwise make a lot of money for not a lot of effort, and spend the rest of your life being rich and getting plastic surgery.
The fallacy that 100% of a population can have higher living standards than 90% of themselves.
Joe: Hey, Fred! If I stand on your head, I'll be higher up than you.
Fred: Great! Then I can climb up and stand on YOUR head, I will be higher up than you, and we'll both be higher up than we are now!
Sue: Oh dear! You're having the American Dream.

American Dream
the bullshit idea our culture sells us that if we just try really hard we can acheive anything and can be anyone we want to be. it doesn't take into account class status, race, gender, or the fact that our country is mostly run by white males. thus, the "american dream" is not attainable for most, and they are left to feel worthless and looked down about if they cannot acheive it.
American dream a'merikan dri:m - the idea that by applying the laws of the jungle - survival of the fittest, either everybody would get rich, or all the poor people would die out.
The belief that you will live in ease and harmony by recieving a great amount of money with as little effort as possible.
This belief is most commonly followed by people 20+ who wake up one day and realize/believe that is is too late to go to college and find a job that you enjoy. So they sit around on their ass all day, go to work at the gas station/Burger King, then on the way home in their '81 Ford they pick up like 10 lottery tickets with a day'searnings and go home and yell at their kids and wait till 10 o'clock to check their lotto numbers. Then they lose, blame all of their troubles on some war being fought in some distant country they can't pronounce and go to sleep. Repeat every day until retirement.
If I won the lottery, I'd have everything I ever wanted, and all I'd ever do is sit around and play Xbox and never do anything to contribute to the world around me.
