Define Carebear Meaning

Term applied by PvP (player vs. player) participants in an online role-playing game to those players are disinterested in PvP conflict. Usually derogatory.

Antonyms: Ganker, griefer, PK scum.

Back in the day, Carebear referred to a person or a game mechanic which eliminated or reduced all risk and challenge and realism from the game.

These days people throw the term carebear around to mean ANYTHING derotagory. Want to craft? You're a carebear! Don't want to play an mmorpg like a first person shooter? You're a carebear! Don't like to play the game like I play the game? You're a carebear!

The term carebear has become mangled and meaningless. But it used to mean something important to hardcore gamers.

Examples of the ORIGINAL term are:

In the MMORPG Eve-Online (www.eve-online.com) a Carebear is a character who stays in Concord (police) controlled space and never ventures into unsecured "0.0" space.

Unlike previous MMORPG related definitions, an Eve carebear doesn't necessarily eschew Player-vs-Player activity - a carebear may actually be a pirate or griefer who specifically stays in Concord controlled space to prey on new players (noobs).

Carebear pirates are commonly considered a cowardly form of pirate.

1. A player who detests Player versus Player (PvP) gaming and whines about how it ruins their gaming enjoyment.

2. A player who is killed or has a loss through theft and then complains about player harassment.

3. A player who focuses their gameplay strictly on crafting or other non-competitve activity.

4. A player who is afraid of getting ganked by other gaming players.

5. Players more concerned with "coloring" their houses, clothing, names, etc... than with playing against other people in a competitve gaming environment.

6. A player who ruined the PvP MMORPG industry by complaining so much that PvP MMORPG development is rare.

A word used by unemployed/unemployable males to describe anyone who they dislike in a game.
These nerds will often be in their 30s and 40s,and have no life outside of their online world.
In real life,they would be considered an 'outcast' type,and have low self esteem,enjoy reading comics and watching sci fi cartoons.There is a high possibility of a goatee beard.
They will think theyre badass because they play xbox 360 games on hard.

Carebear.......Verb, The act of discharging semen onto another person’s chest.
Based on a Dave Chapel joke referring to how the Care Bears in the cartoon could shoot love out of their chests. Dave noted that while you cannot really do that, you CAN shoot love (semen) out of your penis onto someone else’s chest.

MMO video game term often used in EVE Online.

Definines someone whose playstyle involves very little or easily quantifiable risk. Often confused with players who PvE for ingame money.

Carebears are the players who are risk-averse and will only engage in PvP when the outcome is predictable (and ideally, profitable)

1.)One who does not like to participate in PvP (Player vs. Player) combat, afraid they will lose exp or delvl. Most commonly a noob who has tried to PvP before and has miserably failed.
2.)One who does nothing besides farm materials/adena/money/recipes/items despite the server rates or continuosly rerolls characters.

...often used as an insulting term that could mean either of the following:

1. A MMORPG player who is against player vs. player (PVP) game playing.

2. A MMORPG player who is a "newb" to PVP game playing.

Any individual in a Massively Multiplayer Online environment that touts ones own playstyle above all others, at the cost of others.
