Define High Yield Meaning

High Yield
A word used intermittently in approximately every other sentence of medical school facts indicating that it is very important. In the popular pathology review series called "Pathoma", it's used at the end of sentences in place of a period.

It's important to know that this entire textbook will be high yield.

"Yeah right John, there's no way. I'm about to go high yield on this 12 pack of Hamm's instead".

The two words that make every medical student orgasm.

1. Professor says, "It is statistically proven that students who come to class and listen to our institutional lectures perform better on STEP."
Student whispering to a colleague, "Bro I just downloaded this Gold Standard Anki Deck on Reddit, all the high yield info to ace STEP."

Colleague fantasizing, "Oh my god say that high yield to me one more time."

2. DirtyMedicine Presenter: "Remember this CT of the chest and see the saddle embolism in the pulmonary artery. THIS IS VERY VERY HIGH YIELD GUYS!"
Students: "Genius! Write that down! Write that down!"

3. Dr. Sattar from Pathoma: Adult with pseudopalisading around necrosis in brain biopsy is Glioblastoma Multiforme; You're gonna see this on STEP nothing could be more high yield except of course SARCOIDOSIS.

4. Dr. Ryan from Boards and Beyond: It is very high yield to know the relationship of SVR, Preload, and Afterload in the context of Distributive (Septic) Shock as well as knowing that COPD presents on PFT with higher TLC; and here is a photo of my grandmother to remind you of that.

You get the gist. Now get back to studying, you know damn well Urban Dictionary isn't high yield for STEP. If you haven't memorized first aid, have you really mastered high yield?
