Define Early 2000 Meaning

Early 2000s
Usually considered an extension of the 1990's for American culture. Pretty much had the same feel of the past decade, but with a lot of political and economical trouble.

Many music stars and bands who were popular in the mid-late 90's continued their popularity, with some new emerging stars who sung in the same style. The boyband fad died in 2002, with the end of NSYNC and the hiatus of the Backstreet Boys.

Many popular shows from the late 90's continued or aired in reruns through the period. Reality TV was popular, but it wasn't usually scripted. Anime dominated the animation scene. In addition, 90's shows, which were either running or in reruns, remained popular. Adult cartoons became popular.

Politically, the early 00s was overall a horrendous time. Bush was inaugurated in 2001, followed by the 9/11 and anthrax attacks and the War on Terror later that year. The Iraq war in 2003.

The economy wasn't doing too well. The dot-com Bubble burst in 2000, leading to a recession in the 2001-2002 years, though it wasn't as bad as the late 2000s or 1930s recession.

Video games systems included the original Playstation, the PS2, Xbox 1, Dreamcast, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advanced. Online gaming started to become popular. 2D gaming was accepted for the portable systems, and portable remakes of many 80's and 90's classics. Home consoles usually had 3D games, but there were compilations of classic 2D games.

It wasn't perfect, but many are starting to reminisce on the time today.

The early 2000s were a great time to be alive

Early 2000s
Times of trouble.

See, 9/11, dawn of the Bush II Reign, rise of Post-Grunge, emergence of Reality T.V, end of the American 'Golden Era' Economy. Rising oil prices, Dot Com Bubble.

Through and through the early 2000's (2001-2003) still had retained some extent of the late 90's culture and fashion but this began to fade into obscurity by 2004 and onwards. Also, the Sixth Generation of Video Games were included in this period. PS2, Xbox, and the little badboy that no one ever bought - the Gamecube.

My grandpa died 1 week after New Years 2001. My uncle then died on my birthday in May of that same year. Then September 11th happened four months later. And everything completely changed, then. Not just for me, now. But for for my neighbors, for everybody.

The Early 2000s were drastic times for America and the world.

Early 2000s Kid
Someone born from 1994-1998. Meaning they turned 5-9 before 2004. Generally these people are on the cusp of both Millennials (1994-1996) and Gen Z (1997-1998) and are confused what generation they fit in. Reason being that they experienced both cultural trends leftover of the 90's and new trends from the 2000's growing up. Another term for this group is called Zillenials

Person born in 1992: When were you born?

Person born in 1997: 1997.

Person born in 1992: OH so you're an early 2000s kid. We probably had similar upbringings.

Person born in 1997: Yeah you're right! Dial up was the worst.

Early 2000's Kids
Like 90s kids, they actually know what a VHS is, and grew up with kids shows of the 90s and 2000s. Generally born between 1997 and 2002.

90s kids are all hipster nutcases, but at least early 2000's kids know what life was like before all these shite modern TV kid shows and why Nokia's are unbreakable.

Early 2000's Shows
Pretty much either golden for nostalgia, or downright stupid. You would get home from school or whatever and watch some show on your huge TV. Not the flat, tall ones, the ones that have pretty small screens and a back wider than your pp will ever be.

Person 1: "Did you watch that one show on TV when you were a kid?"
Person 2: "No, but I watched this one."
Person 1: "Oh, that one awful show that god abandoned as soon as he saw the concept?"
Person 2: "Yeah. Man, early 2000's shows really could suck."
