Will Oldham and Elliott Smith. There are a lot of indie bands that have folk influences like The Shins and Death Cab for Cutie, however these bands are not considered indie folk since they are not traditional folk bands due to the use synthesizers and keyboards and strong elements of other genres such as grunge,
power pop and psychedelic rock.
