A biography on the other hand is an account of a persons life written by someone else. e.g. I am writing a biography of my grandfather's life.

An autobiography is a book that a well-known celebrity has written like Stephan Hawking who has written books and an autobiography to inform people Chronologically about his own life himself. There is a big difference between a biography and an autobiography, a biography Is a book made by somebody other than the person it is about and an autobiography is a bit like a diary.
Malcolm X'sautobiography. Malcolm X dictated his life story to the writer Alex Haley. It was published in 1965 shortly after Malcolm's death. This is written on the back cover of the Random House publication of the book, paraphrased:
