Define Mallcore Meaning

1. Music made for and bought by mall-going teenagers/young adults, characterized by a high level of angst and a low level of sincerity. The term dates back to the late 1990s when groups like Korn, Tool, Limp Bizkit, Slipknot and the Deftones dominated rockradio and were incorrectly labeled "metal" by fans and the news media. In 2001-2002, these "nu-metal" bands took a nosedive in popularity and the metalcore rush took over, thus beginning the second generation of mallcore. While metalcore has more similarities to heavy metal than its precursor, the common aesthetics - angst, faux rebellion and generally repetitive musicianship - remain entact.

2. A style of dress associated with listeners of "mallcore" music. The "nu-metal" years were characterized by baggy pants, pocket chains, dredlocks and long goatees, while the "metalcore" era utilised unkempt hair, thick-rimmed glasses, tight pants and t-shirts of a "true" metal band that the wearer has never listened to.

3. Mallcore may also refer to a "true" metal band that changed the direction of their music to suit a "mallcore" audience.

Pathetic kids who spend all day at the mall (especially at Hot Topic), reeking of fake angst and despression and talk about how Slipknot is the greatest "death metal" band that ever lived.

The emo or goth children who are afraid of what people will say about them, so, they run aroung whining "don't lable me!!" Those children also buy all their clothing from Hot Topic and Zumies.

1.Mallcore is a term of derision that refers to nu-metal, since it is so closely associated with the Hot Topic stores at the malls of America. Such music, while having certain metallic tendencies, is simplistic, predictable, and, for the most part, uncreative. Thus, it cannot be considered true metal, however, these watered-down mainstream bands do lead some fans in the right direction towards true metal bands such as Slayer, Opeth, Dimmu Borgir, Emperor, Deicide, Iron Maiden, among countless others.
2. This term can sometimes be abused by certain metalheads. Some people will say a band has gone "mallcore" any time it releases a sub par album, even if the band has no hint of mallcore influences, still plays solos, and is much too heavy to have any mainstream acceptance.

Form of loud music (which its fans think to be metal, but its really not) with uninovative guitar riffs, electronic sampling, random screaming and "I-will-slit-my-wrists-because-my-life-sucks -boo-fucking-hoo" lyrics.

Bands that draw their main influence from the godfathers, Korn and Deftones and mainly from the modern textbook Nirvana and grunge created with the main rules being "keep your topics personal and introspective" and "don't show any great talent with the guitar".

Nirvana are the biggest anti heavy metal band in music history. They wanted to end all metal in 1991, not just the glam stuff. Kurt Cobain said on record that metal is "dumb kid music" and that their music was a new and better product. Jonathan Davis states the same thing about Korn & so he is the musical son of Kurt. Korn are basically Nirvana with drop tuning and attempts at "heaviness" by mindless screams and growls.

The genre as a whole is geared around challenging pop music in record sales and mass popularity,something evident with bands like Korn and Limp Bizkit attacking pop artists. Heavy Metal has no interest in this as it is cult music for it's devoted fans.

As it is trying to attract mass popularity it has to stick close to the modern rock rules and they can't step too far out of that box. Don't show too much talent on the guitar,don't play riffs that are too heavy and stick to introspective "life sucks" themes.

Mallcore is boring in style and spirit. It is geared for mass consumption and the themes of the music are always introverted and depressing. For me and hordes of other metalheads and music fans of other genres it is the worst music there is. It's false "Heaviness", it's depressing and self depricating rants, it's completely uncatchy sound, irritating riffs, lack of melody or interesting guitars. One of the worst forms of music ever.

A person who wears clothes and accessories all solely from the type of music they listen to, and are discreetly that. Mainstream punk kids and emo kids are usually mallcore.

Bands- Slipknot, Korn, Limp Biscuit, Coal Chamber, etc.
Clothing- Anything with dragons, gay patches from Hot Topic, big spikey chains again from Hot Topic
Attitude- usually negative and mean spirited, most mallcore kids also have crappy facial hair.
