When a certain piece of media pushes or imposes the idea that a closeted person or character is in fact straight. They try to make the character act as “straight” as possible (making them play sports, have a girlfriend, hang out with the popular male characters, etc.) and they push this idea onto you. They then try to shock the audience by making the character come out, as if we couldn’t already tell.

Friend 1: Have you seen the new episode of that show
Friend 2: Yeah, I wasn’t surprised when that character came out
