A superstitious term meaning to give something bad luck or misfourtune

He hadnt got a bad grade all year, but by mentioning that to his friend he jinxed it.

Yeah, that guy sure was jinxed. He broke an axle from three of his just-purchased brand new Rolls-Royces while wheeling down the freeway. The dealer eventually sold him a Toyota Corolla, but that thing broke down too. Imagine!
