Define Los Angeles Angels Meaning

The circumstance that surrounds this name change is quite unfortunate. The Angels are Orange County and Orange County is the Angels. There is a magic(example: rally monkey) that will not understood by the inhabitants of Los Angeles. The name of this excellent organization should be changed back to Anahiem Angels immediately before further degradation is made.

MLB team formerly known the anaheim angels. probably the stupidest team name name ever made up. it says two different cities in its name and they don't even play in LA. any mexican knows that this name is retarded cause they read 'the angels angels of anaheim.' that's almost as stupid as naming your kid 'you'
say, 'you wants to play with you' and you then realize that this is the most retarded team name ever created.

Formerley the Los Angeles Angels, changed teams name to California Angels. Disneyland then purchased the team and changed their name to the Anaheim Angels. Disneyland sold the team to Art moreno who attemted to change the teams name back to the Los Angeles Angels, but ran in to trouble when the City of Anaheim advised Mr Moreno a contract was signed with the the team, when it was owned by disneyland agreeing it would contribute money to restoration of Anaheim stadium if the Angels would keep the Anaheim in their team name.The City said it would challenge him in court to keep the name Anaheim. Art Moreno and his legal advisers found a loop hole and the new team is now called The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

A MLB team with an identity crisis, so they created this ridiculous name for their team. Nobody cared about them as the "California Angels" and nobody cared about them as the "Anaheim Angels," so they tried this newest name. Sadly, it hasn't helped, and even though they fluked their way to a World Series Championship in 2002, nobody cares about this team. Perhaps some other teams that nobody cares about should try renaming themselves similarly, such as "The Washington Nationals of the District of Columbia."

The new (and original) name for the Angels. Started with Los Angeles, then California, then Anaheim (when Disney also had a gay logo for the team), then back to Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. On TV, the three letters featured for sports scores are shown as LAA, with the dodgers as LAD. Tickets printed from the Angels box office are shown as just ANGELS, ie ANGELS vs BOSTON RED SOX.

It is part of Arte Moreno's (the Angels owner) plan of marketing to the entire Southern California market. He has marketed the team as ANGELS BASEBALL and The A Team by putting up billboards in LA and playing TV and Radio ads. In response, the dodgers have a "This is LA Baseball" marketing campaign, though they deny it has nothing to do with the Angels. The Dodgers have also now had player appearances in Orange County, clearly showing Arte's campaign is working.

Media made it seem like many fans were very upset about the name change, but an overwhelming majority do not care because the team continues to put up perennial winning numbers and tickets to weekend games are pretty much impossible to walk up and buy. The city of anaheim and their worthless mayor curt pringle waste taxpayers money by spending $4 million on a lawsuit against the name and will probably end up spending more than $10 million to cover the Angels lawsuit expenses as well. curt pringle also brings bad luck to angel games as he publicly does not support them, but then shows up to the playoff games to get his name out but is such terrible bad luck because every game he has attended in the postseason has resulted in an Angels loss.

Since Arte's ownership of the team, the Angels have been able to assemble a perennially competitive team, pretty much the Yankees of the west coast. Featured stars include Vladimir Guerrero, Bartolo Colon, Francisco Rodriguez, Darin Erstad, Garrett Anderson, and Tim Salmon. Salmon (also dubbed the Kingfish) made it back after rehabilitating from surgery and has been a great comeback story for Angel fans to see.

For the first time in club history, the team capped season ticket sales at over 31,000 in 2006. This leaves just about only 12,000 single game seats for sale for each game. The team also features a new TV deal with FSN West as a 10 year, half billion dollar deal. In comparison, the dodgers could not even get half that for a similar deal in which KCAL/9 dropped the Angels in 2005 to pick up the dodgers.

All of this shows that Arte has done a great job with the team and nothing else should matter except that the Angels are here to stay in Orange County and they put up winning numbers.

Angel fans complain about the name but, c'mon... Los Angeles is the city of Angels! Having it in Anaheim makes no sence!

The current name of the MLB team, the Angels, located in Anaheim, California. What many don't seem to realize is that the Angels were originally the "Los Angeles Angels" when they formed in 1961, as they played in Los Angeles. Since their move in 1967 to their new home in Anaheim, the Angels have undergone many name changes, from the "California Angels" (1965-1996) to the "Anaheim Angels" (1997-2004) and now the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (2005-present). The revert to the "Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim" was a marketing strategy by new club owner Arte Moreno, who changed the team name back to their original identity, in effort to advertise the team to all of Southern California. His marketing strategy has worked, as the value of the team has nearly quintupled since he purchased it. Furthermore, he has worked out a major syndication deal with Fox Sports that has allowed him to support one of the largest payrolls in all of baseball. Most fans have long-since adapted to the new name, and most of the trashtalk lingering is coming from the Dodgers fans envious of their superior cross-town rivals, while they are forced to sit in squalor in a sespit that houses their team. They joke about the Angels wishing they were in L.A, but neglect to admit that the Angels have a larger payroll, and more fans in attendance than any Dodger game - they also are too embarrassed to admit that the only famous athelete on their team is the owner, Magic Johnson.

Great job Artie, If Anahiem desired to keep the city name they had every opportunity to purchase the team themselves! Why didn't they?
