Define Hamlets Meaning

Hamlet
Used when an action got social credit, but there was nothing behind it, either because of deception or luck.

Example 1: Jesse suggests to Billie that they should meet up tonight, even though Jesse secretly knows that Billie is busy and cannot meet. Jesse then *acts* (hence, 'Hamlet') very bummed, lamenting how on how much he misses Billie and that they should meet up already.
Example 2: Todd does not want to hang with David as planned, but reluctantly calls him to check where they are meeting up. David apologises profusely and explains that something has come up and he cannot meet. Todd, being and/or pulling a Hamlet, acts very disappointed and explains that he was so looking forward to it.

"HA! i really didn't wanna go out but i had a date with X setup so i called to cancel but before i could X said he/she was feeling a bit bad and wants to cancel, so i gave X shit about it and said how much i was looking forward to it. What a great Hamlet!

Hamlet
Main character in a venerated Shakespeare play of the same name. He comes from a family so dysfunctional that only the Skywalkers rival it in Jerry Springer potential.

A little month, or ere those shoes were old
With which she followed my poor father's body,
Like Niobe; all tears, why she, even she--
O God, a beast, that wants discourse of reason,
Would have mourned longer--married with my uncle,
My father's brother...

Hamlet, 1.2.147-151

Hamlet
Title and main character of a kickass Shakespeare play. Gets quoted a lot. Has an awesome death scene at the end (ruined it for you!). About three hours long when it's actually performed, though.

Hamlet
Shakespeare's most emo character, he spends most of his time complaining about how terrible his life and then at the end of the play he dies...how sad.

You think you're emo, you should check out Hamlet, that dude Shakespeare created; he definitely outdoes you.

Hamlet
smaller than a village - larger than a wide spot in the road, a hamlet usually has considerably less than 200 people and is usually tied to agriculture (although many housing subdivisions could loosely be described as hamlets, especially when incorpirated and containing a minimal number of people).
A hamlet can either be dispersed (particularly in the USA), or clustered (see urban).
It is often located at the crossing of two minor thouroughfares (at a crossroads). Most intentional communities, if not a village and and not tied into the fabric of a larger entity, could be described as hamlets.

The documentary film "Rabbit Hash - Center of the Universe" was about an old and remote river hamlet which contains a small art colony on the western end of the Kentucky portion of the Cincinnati Ohio metropolitan area (near another hamlet called Big Bone) that elected a dog for mayor, not once, but twice! The First dog was named Goofy.
