CURB YOUR DOG
The term "Curb Your Dog" basically has two meanings. One meaning is to keep your dog under control and out of trouble ... ie; keep your dog leashed and/or confine to your property as to keep them from causing trouble for others. It also means to pick up your dog's poo when they are out of your property ... EX: while on walks and/or at the local park you should carry plastic bags and watch for when and where your dog takes a crap and clean it up! No one likes to step in and/or smell dog poo!

While out walking her dogs, Jen saw a sign that read "Please Curb Your Dog". She then remembered that she forgot the poo bags and went back home to get them.

We have been having problems with the neighbor's dog getting in our yard and digging and/or pooing the yard. So we got one of those "Curb Your Dog" signs.

Curb Your Dog
Curb your dog means your dog must be under your control and must defecate and urinate in the street and not on your neighbor's sidewalk, lawn or property, i.e, walk the dog between the curbs. This is the law in many large cities and it is common to see signs indicating dog owners must curb their dog. The phrase ‘Curb Your Dog’ originated in the 1930’s in New York City. It means that owners cannot allow their pets to soil buildings, nor can a dog make a nuisance of himself on the grass of the parkway or on the sidewalk." ‘Please Curb your Dog’ means ‘Don’t let your dog do its business on the sidewalk. Let your dog do it in the road’.

Please curb your dog and keep him off my lawn, it's the law.

Curb Your Dog
"Curb Your Dog" signs are often found in cities and in suburban areas where people live. These signs are gentle reminders to dog walkers to have their dogs do their natural excretory business ( ie #1/ urine and #2/bowl movements of all textures) at the curb- the physical interface between the sidewalk and street such that remnants of the dog's activities do not impact pedestrians. Although there seems to be some confusion online about the technical and legal meaning of this idea, as with most things, the simple, literal one makes most sense and is most likely to create the most good will. The best way for a dog owner to minimize negative impacts on the general community is to bring their dog to the curb, or better yet the street, so that fewer pedestrians will have to negotiate the urine puddles and and excrement smears. Even dog excrement that has been attempted to be removed by diligent owners (which is appreciated), it is often not completely removed (granted it'd take a scrubbing), and thus contributes to unnecessary yukiness on many sidewalks. Especially since curbing a dog is such a practical way towards minimizing this urban concern, curbing dogs to the curb is a win win approach. Dog lovers and dog owners love good neighbors.

Pet Your Dog!
A phrase typically during road rage--especially when being glared at by snotty female passengers. This phrase can be used in conjunction with hand signals, but is more typically exercised as a way to blow off steam at those road neighbors who just seem to have an issue with the fact that they are sharing the interstate with other individuals instead of owning their own highways.

You nasty woman why don't you just "Pet your dog!" and not glare at me for no reason!
